Aceh is a special territory (daerah istimewa) of Indonesia, an administrative designation intended to give the area increased autonomy from the central government in Jakarta. Located on the northern tip of the island of Sumatra, Indonesia’s northernmost and westernmost province.

Its full name is Nanggröe Aceh Darussalam (NAD). The province which covers an area 60,000 (57,365.57) sq km with the population of 4,200,000 and divided into several ethnic groups: Acehnese, Gayonese, Alasnese, Aneuk Jamee, Melayu Tamiang, Kluet, Devayan, Sigulai, Julu and Haloban, that spread out in 23 Regencies and Cities. Approximately 10 different languages are spoken in Aceh but in general Bahasa Indonesia is use between community.

Aceh could be reach by air from Jakarta with a few minutes stop over at Polonia Air Port in Medan and would takes 2 hours, then continue fly the other 45 minutes to a green land view Mount of Sultan Iskandar Muda Air Port at Banda Aceh with a fascinating view of Seulawah Agam as a background.

If you are coming from Europe or United States you could take flights from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia which fly to Banda Aceh directly. The morning flight offer a beautiful scenery of Sumatra from above where we could see Bukit Barisan mountain range and a thick green tropical rain forest interrupted with a cluster of Palm and Rubber trees.
